My rule, a crappy book, and a rant!

There is a rule that I have been using all the time during interviews, chats with coworkers, and calls from colleagues. It’s really simple, but I am not sure it’s getting through everywhere.

Never approach your network or individual in your network with a greedy one sided agenda! ~ Keith burtis

Friends….It’s that simple!

Have I made my feelings abundantly clear?

I ran into a book called The 48 laws of Power (sorry no link love). I picked it up because when doing a search, it showed to have information on PT Barnum. I should have looked further. If you want to be a cunning manipulative bastard; then buy the book. In fact I’ll give you my copy! It’s absolute garbage. I hope I don’t offend anyone by saying these things, but I simply don’t believe that to be successful in business or life that you need to be manipulative, deceitful, or closed. What I like about the social media age is that I am able to be productive and successful being myself. Hopefully, perceived as none of the above.

Rant away. I completely agree. I get tired of being approached for help/advice/supporting the latest fundraiser or business scheme, but it seems like as soon as I ask someone how their day was, they are too busy to even so much as say hello. It makes you feel very used…

Holler! I love your rule. your rule is perfect. I’m thinking it is right up there with that golden rule.

I friggin love people who are ok stepping outside the group and saying nah! not buying it!

Nicely said Keith.
