Clarence Commuter Flight Victim’s Relief Fund – Please Help the Families
Tonight, one of the most catastrophic events to hit the Buffalo area happened. A small commuter plane crashed within a couple miles of my home. I live in Amherst NY, and the Plane crashed in Clarence. This plane a Q400 Bombardier aircraft came down at approximately 10:30 PM EST while trying to make an approach into the Buffalo international Airport. I was out and about at the time and heard the plane whistling and sounding very odd. A few moments later the crash took place on Long St., a homey residential area.
Just to give you an idea as to how far the Buffalo International Airport is away from the site, click here to see the Google Maps Directions.
I would like to utilize this press to do the most good possible and set up a fund that will get dispersed to the families. If you wish to donate, I have setup a Chip In Donation below to help the victim’s families and those affected by the crash. Anything you donate will help immensely. Please donate below by clicking the big “ChipIn” button.
This Money will go to help the families affected by the event. Thank you!
UPDATE: The money raised here is going directly to the Family that lost their house and their father. I will be partnering with a local school in the area that has also started a fund for the Family. (I am refraining from using names – Particulars will be updated on Monday in this blog after I speak with the Principal of the school )
Information can be found online on many sources, including this youtube video below of someone close to the crash site:
Also there are some photos coming in from Flickr.com from other people in the area, which you can see below in the Flickr slideshow:
I started using twitter to update the local public and try to help keep people informed about what was happening. It didn’t take long before I was noticed by the BBC, MSNBC, Fox International, and many others.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, last night, a 48 passenger plane crashed into a house in Clarence Center, NY. That house belonged to Karen & Douglas Wielinski, and their four daughters Lori, Kim, Jessica and Jill. Knowing that Jessica is one of my best friends, everyone is asking how they can help.
Here’s how:
Her family has lost everything, including her dad, Douglas. There is no address to send anything to, so, if you would like to send a card or condolences, please mail to:
Clarence Post Office
General Delivery
To the Wielinski Family
9845 Main Street
Clarence NY 14031
If you have the financial flexibility to donate funds, we welcome that as well. Checks may be made out to Karen Wielinski.
If you can, please pass this along and help the family. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.
Why does this (and your Twitter feeds) come across as a “me, me, me” feeling?
“It didn’t take long before I was noticed by *all the media*”
Your Twitter stream was full of “Interviewed by such and such now”, then you decry no sleep. How about recording a message on your voicemail saying you need to sleep?
You may have helped but hundreds of others did as well and they didn’t pump the “all the media is talking to me, must go” angle…
So very kind of you keith for you to take time out of your busy schedule and assist in this disaster .
My sincere condolences to those friends and families members affected by this accident .
Prayers and thoughts go out to all the Emergency Service Workers on the scene.
Keith if I can be of any assistance to you , please dont hesistate.

You may not like WHAT Keith did, but trust me, it was intended for the benefit of the community and for the victims’ families.
Perhaps you have made some points to be considered, but they are of a “Monday morning” quarterback nature.
How much support and funds have you been able to raise for the families that were effected? That’s okay, prayer is probably what they need most. Besides, Keith has done the work for you to be able to support them (if you choose) without you sacrificing sleep.
Cut Keith some slack, please. He is dealing with the grief of losing neighbors and it is not the time to be critical.

good job Keith – pay no mind to the comment from Des Moines, it stinks of jealousy. We will pass on the request to donate to victim’s families and our prayers are with them also.
@debworks (one of those twitter friends of yours)
Thank you everyone for all of the comments and support. My intention are purely true.
@Demoines The reason I didn’t set my voice mail to off was because the added press helps get these families some support. I wasn’t crying about it, and I wasn’t reveling in it. My actions were in kindness.
Thanks to everyone! We will get these funds into the right hands. That I promise.
I commend you for your selflessness in helping those affected by this tragic event. I will spread the word about your cause.

Keith,
I watched (listened) to you on FoxNews last night when the accident happened. You were absolutely inspirational with all the great info you gave on the air. Thank you for creating a visual for us all watching. Your quick response was amazing. Thanks all the way from Houston, Texas.
Dear Keith,
I want to thank you for speaking with Fox News the morning of the plane crash. My uncle, 62 years old and a decorated war veteran, was on that plane. Your info on Twitter kept me updated and your post with the contact numbers was immensely helpful in confirming my uncle’s name on that passenger list. Everything is still very unreal right now. As you could imagine, my family is still in half disbelief.
If you have any additional information regarding help for the family of victims on board Flight #3407, please e-mail me, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again for your thoughts, condolences, and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, and all those involved in Flight #3407.
So sad.
Thank you for being there when we needed you.
